None of this could have been possible without this group of young people who chose to get involved and who have dedicated their time to this and brought boundless energy, commitment, enthusiasm and ideas to the CIC.

Two other important partners are:

  • the EDF Burnfoot Hill Community Fund, which is administered by Foundation Scotland and which had the vision to initiate this journey and has continued to support us as we grow and develop
  • the schools of the Alva Academy Learning Community who recognised the benefit of this work for their young people and who welcomed us in to work with them
“OYCI means a lot to me because your voice is heard and I joined because you get to improve your community” – Eilidh
“OYCI is a great group and the people just show how much you can achieve in such a little amount of time” – Shakira
“I got involved in OYCI because I wanted to help the community and try something new. I have got more confident and learned new skills” – Hannah
“OYCI is great because you make friends, you have fun, it’s not just adults that make it happen, young people come up with ideas and put them into action” – Holly
